Speak Your Truth is proud to announce an evening of art with a taste of java. Speaking for the Unspoken is a group show featuring the art of Christina Thomas, Joel Silbert, Francine Steadman, Chloe Krulak, Karen Lindsay, Josh Lucas, Jonah Markowitz, Shivani Mistry and Phoebe Foley. All art work will be sold for a $500 and under.
Speaking for the Unspoken is a commentary on the disenfranchised and the disenfranchised began to look different than expected. Disenfranchised can be defined as a person who is stripped of their power. Each artist has returned power to their subjects by honoring them in their work. The art consists of photography, painting and mixed media pieces. Nature has a strong voice in this show and is articulated in varied mediums with different eyes. The cohesion in the art can be found in the beauty that is documented by the artist of the unspoken. The beauty in some cases is in the word itself. As each stroke met the canvas, each click of the camera and needle to fabric a voice began to whisper. A voice was given to the beauty of the powerless.
The event will take place at Daily Press Coffee, 181 Havemeyer St, Brooklyn, NY 11211 on September 6, 2014. It will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free.
